i think what made the first one so good was obviously the weight, but the midsole being a little stiff and upper being a little stiff (for an upper) made it all work so well together. what doesn't work is soft upper with a stiff midsole (hoka carbon x 3). hoping that the upper is a tad softer and the midsole is a tad softer and they work as well together as the SB1

Can't wait to pick this up in September when the new colors come out!

I love my More V3 and V4 but NB outsoles wear out far too quickly. I hope the new range addresses that issue.

I’m surprised the new balance was in there. It’s very squishy. I weigh 230 pounds and I feel like I’m sinking in them. Not a lot of energy response. I like them for a slow long run tho.

Even though your talking about a different shoe, please pass this on to the New Balance reps. The 608 cross trainers 2017 and before were wonderful. I was a gym owner for 14 years. and wore them all the time. Also played racquetball and did wind sprints in them. SINCE 2017 the new Versions ( I bought some in 2023 after the last 8 pair wore out) are TERRIBLE with hard soles and thin inserts. My Plantar Faciitis that had been gone for 20 years came back in 3 days. I am now searching for new shoes. I would like to see New Balance go back to making them the way they did 2017 and before when made in Indonesia.

I like that you put good daily trainers on here. But the video is for race day and speed workout shoes. All five of the shoes on this list are mediocre at best for speed and bad for races, especially the novablast 4. The novablast 4 should only be used for daily training along with the rest of the shoes on this list. If you want a shoe thats acctually good for speed workouts and race day. Get asics magic speed 3.

They need a lower stack shoe under 30mm at the heel in a neutral and stability shoe with the J frame, for those of us who like a lower stack shoe, since they destroyed the Mach 5, and have had no choice and had to jump ship and have gone over to New Balance now (Rebel V4 is similar to the Mach 5). They keep churning out the same shoe 1 or 2mm off, and giving it a new name.... how many do they need, my goodness...... the Mach 5 was iconic. 😮

I've been wearing my Olympus 4's to death waiting for this shoes. The 5s got such bad reviews I held off. I'm wondering if they listened to the consumer and made changes. I'll probably get a pair from REI which has a good return policy.

The racer 2 is heavier and stiffer than the version one. For a racing flat, the 1 was already borderline heavy. This one is a joke. I'm really really angry at altra for doing this!

Mach 6: 37mm heel 32 forefoot, 8.3oz Skyflow: 38mm heel 33 forefoot, 9.9oz Does this perhaps have a wider base than Mach 6 for more stability? Does the Mach 6 feel unstable? How is Mach 6 for 20 mile long runs in marathon training?

I think I prefer brooks ghost max 2 over this.
